I'm back but confused. My last username was patches now I'm fluffy. Oh well, it is a clunky old website.

I quit nearly 6 months ago using Champix. They ripped it off the shelves mid course so I had to go it alone. Things got nasty a week off Champix but I persevered. I completed an accounting course while being thrown into the worst physical withdrawals ever that lasted well over a month. I'd smoked nearly 50 years so I think I did pretty well.

I'm now struggling with legal issues while completing a business course and just die for a smoke from time to time. I just remind myself that it would be taking on one more expensive horrendous problem on top of what I've already got.

If I can persevere while quitting under the most stressful situations ever after chaining it for nearly 50 years, anyone can.

Go for it folks. Just embrace the discomfort and persevere. You have nothing to lose.

Great job Patches! I was also chained to the nasty addiction/habit for 40 plus years and so it seems we keep on for life. With good behaviour we can escape early. There is life after smoking and we deserve to enjoy it! It wouldn't be so bad if we had gotten something along the way, but alas, NOTHING. I got tired of dragging that ball and chain and I am now free. I do not miss it, nor do I want to ever go back.

Congratulations on your six months. Keep going and put the past behind you. A brighter future awaits.

Hello Fluffy (Patches). I too "HAD" an addiction for 50 years. 6 months is terrific! At least you know it causes stress in which you do not need right now! You ARE doing it, and doing it well!!! Keep focused and stay on your path to freedom! You can do this! We are behind you,

I smoked for 50 years. I started smoking when I was 5 yoa. Six months is amazing. I don't miss it at all. I have 32 moths up. I don't think I struggled through adversity like you. But the time came when my health did not permit me to smoke anymore. I was too old for it.

Yes I too had some pretty horrible experiences with champix. Worst experiences of my life ! Definitely won't do that again I suggest anyone to very carefully read the side effects of champix or at least take a break for a few weeks.
