Day 10 :)

Hi everyone :)

I hope you’re all doing well with quitting or preparing to quit.

I’m on day 10 now. I’ve been reading and knitting a lot, both distractions I decided to do before I quit. It’s getting a bit easier now but I’m really worried to let my guard down, I’ve done that too many times.

How do you stay quit? How do you remind yourself that you want to stay quit? When I quit for 10 years I knew that one smoke would get me back to smoking again, which it did. I was pretty unwell before I started smoking again and against all my own knowledge and discouragement by others, I had that first smoke. After that it just went downhill, I’ve been smoking on and off for over 4 years again. How do you keep staying quit?

Thank you :)

yay, day 10 sounds good to us,.

The best advice is NOT ONE PUFF EVER,

And my favourite is, no thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"I DONT SMOKE"

schedule 15 Sep 2021

Only you know why you started after 10 years of abstaining.

You knew just one puff would never be enough and send you back into the trap. Did you know then what you do now? Would you CHOOSE TO SMOKE, after ending the cycle successfully again?

We did not CHOOSE to smoke in the beginning. We tried it and didn't believe that we could actually become addicted to something so vile . We had to WORK at inhaling without gagging. We thought that we could do what others did and SAID that they enjoyed. We all lied and made excuses to save face once we ourselves got "hooked". We denied we were until too late.

Today, I hope that you have learned a little more about why we started to smoke and now know that we can put an end to the cycle.

Did smoking really help you in your time of stress or unhappiness 4 years ago?

Perhaps you wanted to punish yourself for some reason. Did you not feel worthy of the freedom you had regained? Or was it a daily fight to resist the urge?

I was a non-smoker the day I quit and really believed that 4 days later after I survived the nicotine being evicted. I expected flu like symptoms and had none. I was ready to quit and proud that I had, and so maybe that is why I had no difficulty adjusting. I had not even read Allen Carr's book at that point.

I really knew nothing but gained the BELIEF that an end to the addiction was possible. I so I have been a very content and happy non-smoker for over 1000 days. Hubby and daughter are as well. We are not special, we saw that it could be done and WANTED to do it for ourselves and loved ones.

You had quit for 10 years before so you know you have it in you to quit again. This time make it permanent with the right mindset.

Be proud, be grateful and be happy!

schedule 16 Sep 2021

I have written many pieces including some of the mindset and links to Allen Carr. Simply click on my name right here above and find them. Finding them is much easier and faster than doing this alone and fearing that the nicoman is at your shoulder ready to pounce every day. Quit the EASY WAY !

No it is not the title of my piece. Nor am I going to post the link(s) here. If one really wants to quit they will find them or order there copy. Mine is FREE.

No EXCUSES.......

I also took a concoction which led me to thinking of quitting smoking because I woke up one morning without the need to light up right away. Could there be something to it ? Not many ask me and no feed back but still easy and safe to try. I was looking for something to better my health, because I thought that i would die a smoker. Maybe it was just enough wanting to live a healthy , active life after retirement.....

Congrats Yggy,

You are doing so well 🤗

Great advice from the crew. Changing routine and habits were key for me. I avoided my usual ‘puffing’ chair outside for the first 2 weeks and of course keeping busy, Chamomile tea (anxiety relief), lots of fresh fruit, healthy salads (eating fresh really is a great deterrent), walking and going to bed early all helped me.

Keep going, you’ve got this!!
