Advice needed

I don’t think I can do this. Day 4, utterly miserable. I know a cigarette will make me feel better so why not just have one? I gave up for 14 years and started 3 years ago ( it was like I never stopped). It’s so disheartening. I just feel like I’ll never be able to do it. I’m on NRT but I want to smoke just as much as I want to give up! Any advice?

Welcome Paniwani, I am going to call it, that is a cop out, Day 4, you are facing discomfort so why not have 1? Ill tell you why, it's the addiction talking not your desire to smoke. You are here like the rest of us to find freedom.
You need to work on your mindset, cigarettes is just slavery and its lesser part addiction is the nicotine, the big addiction is habit, we do it for so long over and over again that we tend to feel lost at first without it.
Try learning to despise them for what they truly are, thieves, stealing your money, health, self esteem and time.
My advice to you is get the Allen Carr book easy way to quit smoking, its worked wonders on so many to help get the right mindset. Choosing to become a non smoker is just that, choice, so why not get excited and embrace the fight to freedom. You are stronger than the nicodemon, you just need to get stubborn and comitt. There are many relaxing guided meditations on youtube as well to help you unwind and strengthen your determination. It is ultimately up to you though, we will have your back and cheer you on, but ultimately YOU need to want it, as we cannot do it for you. I wish you success Paniwani🙌

Hi Paniwani and welcome! Well said Leeann!!! I can only add to take it 1 hour at a time. When you feel like you NEED a smoke, wait 1 hour and during that hour, keep busy. When the hour is up, the urge will most likely not be there. Hour after hour then go to bed very early and you have a day under your belt in the morning when you wake up.
Keep your goals small. Just one hour, one day at a time. Educate yourself and grab some inspiration from all these posts from the non-smokers. These seasoned non-smokers keep coming back to post just to help us new non-smokers. Take their advise. Everyone is different. Find what works for your. Leeann is right... it is a choice. You need to make that choice and fight. This community is great and we are behind you all the way. Let us know your progress, good, bad or indifferent. Hang in there.
