Hi Chris,

Math is still math and half and half equals one.

Fortunately , nicotine won't want fed twice as many times, or every 20 minutes instead of 40.

While alcohol seems to have some affect (or maybe they just go together so well) and we tend to smoke more,, we do not wake up to feed the addiction.

Nicotine is satisfied enough to hold out until the next regular feeding time. At least it was in my experience when I did the same and cut down like that. I went cold turkey which i found to be easier once down to 5 and then 3 ciigarettes a day in few days from the usual 25. Doing this taught me to endure waiting a little longer between too.

I jumpstarted the quit. Easier.

When your thoughts become consumed with when the next fix is due and then start to idolize the cigarette, you are doing more harm than good. Learn instead to realize the taste, smell, and time it takes away from other things. Most importantly do it alone, in a corner with nothing to do. Just you and it.

Taste the poison, smell the stink on you and your clothes. Think how nice it would be to spend your money on other things. Change your relationship with the cigaraete and change your life.

Welcome Chris, I have tried many methods, but the slow painful method was one I had to abandon, my next time came about with actually getting my mind to accept the fact that this was a dangerous game, with any of the tested and tried methods.

At this stage, I also researched Nicotine and other drugs connected to smoking, for me Nicotine was the addictive part, it demanded to be fed like a baby. I chose Champix, no Nicotine, and control of my thoughts rather than let Nicotine control me. NOPE (not one puff ever)

Good evening Chris, I thought by smoking half a smoke then coming back to it later would slow me down or at least let me think I was pacing myself. When I actually wanted to start counting the smokes I was having a day it made it hard because If I smoked half a smoke before I went to bed - when I got up in the morning there was already half a smoke waiting for me. So by the end of the day I would have to try and remember how many half smokes I smoked and the number of butts in the ash tray would alway make me feel bad, thinking that I had smoked more than I really did.

As I sit here and write this I want you to know that I actually searched my car this afternoon thinking that I may have had one of those half smokes hanging around. I'm glad I didn't. Jame

HI Chris, In my opinion the best way to quit is to quit all together. there is nothing called half cigarette. You are your only guide and inspiration. look for the reason inside. I have attempted to quit and i am completing 6 weeks today. I just quit one fine day without any preparation of a D day. i just relied on my past and present experience. this is a great forum. The best way to get help is to share your daily experience. There are some wonderful people out here who are of great help and support.
