Hii...I quit smoking for 2 days. There is no special reason for me to quit smoking but I want to quit. I started smoking when I was 18 and now I am 54 years old. I have been smoking for almost 36 years. Now I feel tired of smoking .... I want to quit.

Welcome Saari67. Read and learn how you can quit smoking. We broke free and so can you. When your heart and mind both meet in the WANT to quit smoking it becomes easier. Think positive and believe in yourself. The nicotine has less hold over your after the 72 hours without it in your system. It is the mental part that is harder to overcome for some people, but with the desire, comes success.

Let us know how you are doing or if we can be of help. We know you can do it!

Hi saari67,

I too just stopped smoking. As of this post, it has been 40 hours since my last cigarette. I've probably tried to stop 8-10 times in the past year. As an addict, I am aware of this compulsion to take a bad or stressful situation to smoke. If my dog barks too loud or I get an unexpected expense, I am compelled to smoke. That's all it takes for me. That is more powerful than the physical addiction to me. I need to learn how to handle stress in a more positive way. I've started walking on a treadmill and some burpees and crunches. These activities fill my lungs in a good way and I am beginning to enjoy it. I just can't get too confident or cocky at this point. The smoking devil will sneak up on me.

Good luck my friend!

Hi, you are in the same boat as am, started 18 years old now 54. I always promised I would quit at 40, then 45, then 50, so I finally quite last year 30 April 2020. I have gained a lot of extra weight, cause food is so much tastier and I know I need more exercise. I loved my cigarette and stopping was difficult, but am happy to be free of that poison. Keep it up, it can only get better.
