quitter with epic stomach and back pain looking for fellow quitters

schedule 10 Jan 2021

hi everyone,

I had a stop start beginning to my quit after 20 years of smoking in september 2020. I'd quit a few weeks then smoke for a day then quick etc.

But i have now been clean since December 27th. Around the end of november as i first went cold turkey style the stomach pain and gas and muscular back pain has been pretty intense, especially in the colon. I went to see my doctor and he did blood and an ultra scan etc and sees no issue, i have a colonosopy planned but have already been in for hemorrhoids recently and he saw no prostrate issue so hope to be okay there at 39.

My question is has anyone else had to deal with this stomach, gas and lower back pain ? and if so any tips. I have a sensitive stomach anyway and the pain thing has come and gone over the years but jesus this worries me, you google this stuff and it is pretty scary!

thank you all and happy new year!

Stop googling and causing yourself unnecessary worry. You saw the doctor and they are the ones who know about these things. The mind will play tricks when we quit smoking. We also tend to eat more, and /or different things, or exercise too intensely.

I just had a scare last night when my blood pressure went way too low. It seems that eating chia seeds can increase the effectiveness of my high blood pressure med. Along with a sudden change in foods, as I was also eating quinoa. Quinoa is also known to lower blood pressure ....another Superfood....but deadly with wrong combinations. Most people know grapefruit can affect meds. This was new to me. Diet can cause changes. Your mind can do strange things.

Take comfort in having good health confirmed. Yes, knowing why something occured is releiving. Keep tabs on it, but stop fretting. Above all, do not try even One Puff at this time or ever. Just One Puff has sent many back to square one.

Welcome David, did have a lot of gassy wind for a while much to my embarrassment, I bought some degas after getting checked over by health professionals, this has definately settled down now, so do not worry too much. As for lower back pain, I think everyone suffers from this at one time or another.

It is good to get checked over to keep your mind at rest, now it should be rested, just don't try to pin the trouble on quitting it is the bodily changes which everyone experiences in one way or another we are all different. Keep Happy and continue on without tying yourself up in knots.

A Mantra to use is NOPE (not one puff ever) taken every day as many times as you like.
