Day 3 again!

schedule 10 Nov 2020

Hi everyone again. I find this forum very useful and I like sharing my experience with people who really understand the struggle.

3 weeks ago I posted about the Day 3 struggle. I feel strong and happy as a non smoker for a few days and then the dreaded Day 3 or 4 hits and I lose strength. I can literally identify times when my mind starts to question the logic to quitting and any bump in the day gives me the excuse to have one. Always day 3 and 4. But this time is different, I remember being free from the smoke habit for 10 years. I want to be back in that state where you tackle each day and smoking is not something you even think about.

So tomorrow is Day 3 and I am working from home alone and to be honest, although I feel confident now, I am afraid of the next two days. It feels somewhat pathetic really. I have been reading Allen Carr again.

I always value the feedback from others on this forum. This is a great support network. Trying to stay focused for the next 48 hours, this is a real hurdle for me and I know I will be proud if I achieve it.

This time is different. Practice makes perfect. You are discovering the correct mindset to overpower the effects of nicotine.

We did it. You can do it. You have that desire for freedom, you remember how good that felt.

Believe in you. We do.

There are two things that draw a smoker back smoking: 1. Physical cravings and 2. Mental conditioning. Both are hard to deal with but in both cases you need to keep repeating to yourself NOPE - not one puff ever no matter what your logic tells. It's not you logic, it's your addiction. It's not really logical at all to be killing yourself slowly while convincing yourself that you must have a cig. In my case chewing gum and eating sunflower seeds helped me a lot. Good luck

It is good to see you are coming back, and not opting for a hopeless position, you are now at a stage when the fear is higher than the actual doing part. You need to let go of that fear and start again with hope and a happy future in your heart.

You have read Alan Carr, so now time to look and read on this site every day. A video which helped me enormously was "How to grow to be a happy non-smoker by NASIA DAVOS, it is on utube and presented by TedxUniversityofPiraeus, something will resonate with you, and it is a video which understands our human condition, and tries to clarify your desire of wanting and your weakest moments of not willing, in any case you have nothing to lose, keep close to this site every day and post if you need to, we are here to help you over the hump.

Practice every hour, every day NOPE (not one puff ever) it worked for me and it will work for you if you let it.
