Feeling really nervous as I believe this to be my last attempt. It’s day 2 on champix and surprisingly it has taken affect already and I’m feeling less pleased with each cigarette. Hope to use this forum as a diary of my journey.

Some will be jealous that you are having such quick results with the Champix. While it will help you to get out from the clutches of the nicotine addiction, do you realize that there is a psychological attachment that needs to be dealt with. That is why some people say they have cravings 20 years later......Thankfullly we now know that it is just a thought, nothing more, triggered by some familiar event. Learning to love all the benefits of being a non-smoker and understanding that we are not missing out on anything by not smoking, will we truly be happy. Quitting does not have to be scary or even uncomfortable. We will not crave what we do not want. Learn here how to NOT WANT to smoke.

This will be your last quit if you are serious and remain positive.

Thanks Red-67 and Happiness. Champix is a tool, that is all I see it as. Cigarettes are a VERY addictive man made poison which I succumbed to and I’m not going to lie, I don’t care if it takes me 50x tries. I will continue until I no longer go back to smoking which I feel in my heart of hearts is this time. I may also have ILD which is not fun but more motivation to quit.

Hi Hmali, I took Champix, albeit half a dose due to the vivid nightmarish dreams, some people who have come on this website make sure they take it with food in the evening, not late at night. I found Champix helped me enormously, but as mentioned it is the phycological aspect you still need to work on. I did my research on many things related to Nicotine and different videos, so you still need to get this into your mind along with Champix, this site is a great way to learn how others are dealing with the psychological aspect too, and their help is invaluable.

The upside of Champix is that there is no Nicotine to deal with, so in fact you are well on your way after a few days. You do however need to put in another quit date for getting off the Champix itself. If you do your homework this will help you prepare for this. We have Scripts given out by our Doctor in Australia so this means you can visit him/her as you go along.

To help you in the mental aspect of living a full and happy life a Mantra or Mantras can be adopted which you can repeat hourly daily weekly without fail Mine and others is NOPE (not one puff ever), to prepare yourself for the long term commitment you really need. This time then can be the last time.

Thanks everyone. To Vincent, last time, I didn’t purchase anti nausea pill to take with the champix which made being on it horrible. I also was not 100% as I was fine whilst taking the champix but once I stopped, a few weeks later the mental cravings hit and stress as well so have in. This time I am going to start exercising and meditating so that I am more relaxed once I am off champix.

I also hope that you will find the mindset so that you do not want them back in your life ever. Missing them will get the better of you over the course of time. Remembering why we want them gone and enjoying and taking pride in being nonsmokers is why forums like this work. And we get to help others!

Ginger cuts cravings and is good for nausea I understand. I took it in my early days which led to me quitting although I was taking it for health betterment originally.

Thanks Happiness. Will make sure to work with the app as well as listening to audiobooks including Allen’s Carr’s Easyway program in addition to champix
