4th month of being a non smoker. So far its looking like the worst decision i could have made. Quit cold turkey, I smoked around 2 packs a day, for a few years, and one pack for around 12 years.been having Anxiety, chest tightness, shortness of breath, digestive issues, bloating, apparently my colon got inflamed about two weeks after I stopped. Still having issues with that. Wondering if anyone else has had problems like this after 4 months?? Thinking I might need to go back to smoking as this is too much for me, would that even help???

I had the same issues for the first 10 days. I’m also on my 4th month nicotine free, however most of my unwanted symptoms have resolved. I still get anxiety at times but the attacks are less intense now. I wouldn’t recommend going back to smoking, instead try talking to your doctor about your symptoms and see if there is anything they can do to help. We’ve made it this far, I think you would regret going back to smoking. Remember NOPE (not one puff ever).

Welcome Alex, you know very well that the mind will invent any excuse to begin smoking again, as suggested talk to your doctor about your other symptoms, I had to alter my eating habits which helped my digestion a whole lot, eating healthy will always improve your body as will exercising to a degree. NOPE (not one puff ever)

Positive thinking towards your goal of being a non-smoker rather than pessimistic will help to make the adjustment easier. The adjustment takes time, just like other things, and if you are eager rather than relunctant it will be easier. Embrace this journey for what it is. The best decision you could ever make for yourself. Even others who had difficulties will admit that it does get better. The mind is a powerful thing. Think positive. Make it work for you rather than against.

Hi alex.. we are on the same boat. But I don't even think of goin back. You will still feel discomfort if you relapse .Move forward. And the if you plan to quit again, the widrawal is worse than ever.Think positive. Talk to a friend. Exercise might help.

Or might as well go,see a doctor. (Not one puff ever)

Like Sadm3 said, we are also on the same boat. Do not go back. Now we are in a state that we cannot go back it would be more painful. Please keep sharing your experiences -we might help each other.

Hello guys. I quit cold turkey on Sep 1, 2020. This is my 4th month too. I have all the symptoms Alex85 has. I've done CT scans of my chest twice, lots of ECG's an two echos for my heart. They're all negative. I do not have cravings for cigarettes, I actually hate them. I just want to get relief from those symptoms. Alex85 any updates? Are you better now. I need advice please guys, and I need to know if anyone had what I have for that long and if they've revovered from it? Thanks guys

Hi Sam, hope you are well. Yes, the symptoms stopped at around 6-7 months. I am on my 8 month, I DID NOT GIVE IN, and kept my word to myself that I would stop. So far so good. The old symptoms have vanished, and all im left with is well my anxiety, which I'm battling with prescribed medication, and a little breathlessness when I speak too much. Doctor says its just my body learning how to cope with my lungs. Sooner or later it will pass, just like the rest of the things on my initial post. Remember, you trashed your body to a pulp for years and years, dont expect that a couple of months will do a complete heal, it will take time, but eventually, hopefully soon, you will be on your way to waking up with nothing on your mind but a new day..
