Health issues even after 3 months, Please help.

I am 35 years old and I smoked for about 18 years. I quit smoking cold turkey 97 days ago.I am having different symptoms which come and go in few weeks interval after quitting smoking. The symptoms are tightness of chest, coughing out phlegm, chest pain, chest inflammation(or maybe heartburn) and once I had shortness of breath also. In the beginning, I considered these symptoms as withdrawal signs. But now after 97 days I am again having feeling like chest congestion and sometimes coughing out phlegm. I have not taken medicine for any symptoms except for hypertension. I sometimes have stabbing pain for 1 or 2 seconds in chest and abdomen but I am not sure if it related to my smoking cessation. However I do not have craving for cigarettes. Do withdrawal symptoms come after 3 months? Are these the healing signs or something worrisome? Please share.

Hi Tony. When concern about our health, we should consult those in the know to give the proper tests for a trustworthy diagnosis. I had no cravings. I believe the mind toys with us. It responds the way it thinks you expect it to. If you think quitting is hard, it can be. If you think you are missing out on something, you will resent not being able to fill that desire. A craving is really only a thought. Desire not to smoke more than you want to , and put an end to the perpetual war within. Make up your mind and know that the cravings mean you are winning. We only want to smoke mainly to appease the nicotine withdrawl and we know that if we succumb once, we will be hooked again. Get off the merry-go-round.
Coughing up phlem is a sign of healing. Stabbing pain should not happen, especially at your age. Anxiety, boredom. a disorentation or feeling a void are normal reaction when we quit smoking. Most struggle for a few days and come out the other side.

Get it checked out tonimishere, the stabbing pain, could be anxiety but I wouldn't mess about trying to diagnose yourself on this one, treat it as a health problem until you find out otherwise. Congratulations on 97 days that is a huge achievement.

Hi,
I am having exactly the same symptoms at 110 days with out a cigarette. How are you feeling now?
I to have high blood pressure but the first lot of tablets made me feel worse so waiting for them to go out my system and then try some other sort. Can I ask how high your blood pressure is?
Thanks

@Barneyfrank I also have hypertension and taking Amlod 5 mg (calcium channel blockers) for one and half years now.My blood pressure measurement is 84/115. I am on day 110 today and fine now but the issues can come anytime as it happened before. Can you share your story more about how you are dealing? Thanks.
