Almost 1 month

Almost a month since I decided to drastically cut back after 45 years figuring that it is never too late. On 9 June 2020 I had total knee replacement surgery which is an agonising recovery period especially for the 1st two weeks. Now into week 4 and handling the craving ok
My main reason for staying off them is the fear of infection to the area due to lack of blood circulation and contamination of the blood caused by carbon monoxide removing oxygen from the blood. If that is not an incentive then nothing is!!
In hindsight, I wish I had this surgery 40 years ago!!!
On a serious note health practitioners hate the fact that patients are smokers because of the undue risks that are taken during operations and recovery
Other than a very sore leg, that will get better, I am feeling much better for not smoking. My bank account is also much healthier
Cheers

Yes Drummer, we all wish we had quit smoking many years ago. I am hoping that you have quit smoking now, not just cutting back drastically. That , I think is doing it the hard way. Make up your mind and just do it. You will never regret it! After the nicotine addiction is beat , we still need to adopt our desired changes. Embracing the quit fully does make it so much easier. In essence, it is a mind game. Believe you can and you will.

Congratulations on one month Drummer, and yes it is never too late. Fear is a great motivator at times, but this can be short lived, you need to do this for yourself and no one else, this is the best motivator, so find out what other things you can do to keep going long term. Stay close to the forum read and learn you will be surprised at yourself and others.
