Day 53 Symptoms Symptoms Symptoms

I have now been smoke free for 53 days. The first 40 days went by very well with no real issues. Then 2 weeks ago post nasal drip, and dry throat. Went to my doctor for some nasal spray. Seemed to help then last week was quite mucusy, with a sore throat and difficulty swallowing. Went back to doc and got antibiotics and also an ultrasound for my thyroid. Throat seemed to get better, and then yesterday I am salivating like crazy. By supper time my throat is sore from swallowing. I am just curious to see if anyone else out there has had similar symptoms.
I started doing treadmill workouts and for the first time in years have been able to run for 10 minutes consecutively. I have been very proud of my quit, but lately find my mind wandering a bit. It sure is funny how these symptoms show up after the quit, and how your mind plays in these.
Thanks for your replies. This has been the best forumn that I have read so far. Take care my non smoking new friends.

I am sorry I delayed in replying but I have no exerience or advice for your particular problem. You have sought medical advice and seem to be taking things in stride. That's really all you can do. Things changed, and things will changer again. I hope they resolve themselves soon. I am so glad you are experiences the positive changes as well. Remember that in the end, you won't find anyone who regrets quitting smoking.

Welcome to the forum Poley, I had some problems with mucus, but not quite so much as you describe, it seems you have been seen by the doctor and given antibiotics, which should clear up any infection, as far as salivating is concerned I never experienced this.
It doesn't seem like an after effect of quitting smoking, this seems like an infection that is all it is a separate issue. let the antibiotics do there work, and if it doesn't clear then go back to your doctor again.
You need to clear your mind of connecting the two things together, your loss of concentration, is more perhaps because you are overthinking things just let them go, let it be. Try to concentrate on a daily task and roll on day 54
Congratulations.

Thanks for your feedback. I went back to the doctor yesterday. Had benign nodules on thyroid. My doc sent me to ear nose and throat. That dr called me today and says that he has heard this story before from people who have quit. The lump in throat etc. He told me that I have now put the swallowing of saliva in the conscious level instead of just doing it. My throat has felt a lot better compared to 3 days ago. So now my focus has to be on NOT thinking about the thinking of how annoying my swallowing is. Lol. It is kind of funny.
Thanks to those of you for some feedback.
