Staying positive

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 11 Apr 2020

Am writing how I am feeling 33 days smoke free. Sometimes a bit sick in the stomach, calm then anxious, tightness in my chest at times, forget what I’m doing (put the car keys in the fridge the other day) The anxiety seems to be worse in the mornings. I am using the patches and am on the second step. Meditation, yoga, walking are all part of my routine, as is positivity. Just wondering if these are normal feelings experienced when quitting. Positive energy and strength to all.

Hi.

We are doing great as far as having had our last cigarette (33 days). and myself double that and I think as long as we stick to the NOPE action/inaction plan, we will get over strange anxieties or forgetful actions as we go along. I've done some strange things along my Quit journey too. These strange occurrences would be normal.

Your doing Zen and Calm things!

You will get even more content from week to week now.

Pretty Normal Zen calm, its mostly your brain trying to sort out your new actions or in-actions without lighting up. I used to speak to myself, eg "remember you are going to the shops for only food today". I still sometimes get this but I think it is because I have too many things on the go or its because I am getting older. Tell your lovely self its alright and fine, whatever you think or do. Pat on the back for 33 days.

Hi puff no more. Thank you for your support. Aren’t we so lucky that we can write about our strange experiences on this journey. I am keeping strong and embracing the sometimes very different feelings. Going with it and writing it all down which I find helps me to be to be grateful and accepting of my progress. Sending you positive thoughts, inner peace and strength.

Thank you softly40. I can relate to your comment about going to the shops for only food! I say that to myself and come home with food and random weird things as well! My pantry is becoming very interesting. My brain at the moment feels a tad zappy (if that’s a word) am going with it. Have been doing some amazing art work and meditation. Keep well.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing this. I'm on day 5 of cessation, and am experiencing a lot of these symptoms. Particularly the tightness in my chest, as if I feel physically desperate to smoke. The anxiety I also feel. I haven't looked into yoga or meditation yet, is it worth it do you think? I'm using nicotine gum at the moment. But particularly in a morning and on a night, these are the worst periods in terms of my cravings. Thanks again for sharing, keep going! You're doing amazing!

Hi jack505. Day 5 ……… that’s great. Believe the symptoms are all pretty normal from experiences of others. Drink lots of water. There’s some excellent yoga and meditation sites online. Walking is also good. You will find what resonates with you, be kind to you. Keep strong, laugh, it gets better.
