Day #1

Hi guys, today in precisely 1 hour marks the first day in 4 years i have gone 24 hours without a cigarette. Ridiculous as this sounds I am actually so impressed with myself, and I feel more determined than ever to kick this habit forever. I know there is a long road ahead but I ready to do this, for my health and my family. If anyone has any handy tips for week 1 with cravings and withdrawal I'd love to know what worked for people.

Remember that you chose to quit. Remember that the mind is a powerful thing when we use it. We did not choose to smoke, but were drugged and then brainwashed. Reteaching our minds that we deserve control back and that things are not always as told. Quitting Smoking is only as hard as you deem it to be. Although it is a drug, we can break the addiction. Like anything when we desire something we set off to obtain it and believe in ourselves and that we can find a way to achieve our goal. This is no different. Plan, implement and execute. We have broken free of our self imprisonment and enjoy life so much more. Desire freedom and you too will overcome.
Allan Carr explains in his free e-book.

If you truly desire to never smoke!
You will win.
Dont doubt or debate, will I or wont I light up? I've been there done that and it just makes the want or need to give up the smokes very difficult.
Make the final decision and be COMPLETELY clear of the Final cig.
It makes the process of withdrawal much easier with that MINDSET.
Stay strong in the head . Being headstrong rules.

Yes, There is a period of discomfort in the early days, even when the Mindset is utilized to the max,.
Even when when a smoke is not wanted or craved there is some pain for the gain of obtaining NON-Smoker status.
You'll never ever know, if you never ever go!

Hi Liam. Posts here offer genuine sincere support and advice. Can you stop thinking about the so called long road ahead and maybe focus on that first minute, first hour and thereafter. Think about what you have achieved. I am up to 1780 days so trust me when I talk about the first few minutes and hours I was able to say no way, I will never forget that day. Like yesterday. Very vivid.. The next part is a bonus as is every minute and hour passed. It is not necessarily an uphill ride. Some minutes you can take your foot off the pedal and just cruise. Smell the roses, not to mention the fresh air. Enjoy all the new stuff a non smoker discovers.

although the discomfort for a few days is real, believe in your decision and trust yourself. Most important is stick with this forum, hourly, daily whatever, you will get continual inspiration, hints and motivation, welcome to your journey of being nicotine free!
How are you going with your journey? I’m about to embark on mine with the help of patches and eating citrus fruit every time I get a craving. Fingers crossed

Good luck! I am now day 2 of being smoke free and finding its been such an up and down experience, today not as bad as yesterday. Cravings are coming and going at odd times but trying to stay busy and not fixate. Taking the time to check into this group, gonna go read success stories now to keep motivated lol

Hey guys, so this is now day 12 and it feels like the worst is far behind me and it feels amazing! My lungs feel clearer, I have more energy and my overall mood has been great. For anyone who’s just starting out the first 5 days for me we’re by far the hardest. Here’s what helped me: when you start out write down all the reasons why you want to quit and how disappointed you would be if you decided to smoke. Make a clear and decisive decision to quit, 100% and lastly just remember that when you have a craving, even it’s all consuming, just remember they only last max 20mins and usually less so just go do something else to take your mind off it and it goes away. Hope that helps!
