Slip up

So it has been a bit over 6 weeks since I decided to quit. I faced a little stress last week and gave in to the desire to have a cig.
I thought it would taste awful and make me feel sick but it was as if I had never quit. The anxiety subsided, returned and I had another. I was afraid i had failed yet another quit attempt.
Once I was away from the stressful situation though, I no longer desired a smoke. Therefore I'm not going to consider my slip up as me returning to smoking and I am still going to consider myself a 6 weeks non-smoker with a 2 smoke slip up. It might not be accurate for some but I'm proud that the smoking didn't stick.

It is accurate enough Joze , the important thing is that you consider yourself a non-smoker and choose to live that way ...yet again. Good for you. Please do not tempt fate again, and stay in touch with the community as to thwart any further slips. 6 weeks is a terrific start to your journey to freedom! I hope that you have felt the benefits of better breathing and less shortness of breath. You do not want to backtrack and go down that path of ill health.

Hi Joze I have quit a few times and realized my need not to have one puff for any reason was mandatory. This takes a greater belief in yourself than you have at present. Not so hard when you fix this message firmly in your mind.
So...
1. No more puffs to relieve anxiety(deep breath quietly) these confrontations and/or reasons will always present themselves to us at one time or another.
2. Validate and create your own belief in yourself by talking or writing, why you believe you can overcome this addiction
(this is so important)
3. Keep going as you have planned to do, with the knowledge of Nicotine as being a dangerous and deceptive drug that reels us back into its clutches.
4. Never give up And Never give in. Good luck stay in touch

Hi Joze. Who ever said quitting was easy. Learn from your mistakes and why you erred. Tomorrow is another day. At some point you will get sick of failing and bite the bullet and go to Plan 87... That is whatever you want it to look like. Wish you well.
