Hi all. Its my first time here. I have been quite cold turkey for 6 weeks now after 40 yrs smoking

I am doing ok, but have a question that i cant find an answer to online. Since i have quit smoking my libido has gone, luckily im single so its not a problem, lol, but i found it a bit strange.

Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same.

One article says that stress, depression and/or anxiety can be a cause, and as you are undergoing a change of lifestyle, you are under some stress. Our dopamine levels have also been affected and that is another reason given. The good news is that it is temporary. I would bet that it comes back better than ever just as our overall health has improved since quitting those vile tubes of poison.

@Happiness. Thanks for reply. Yeah i think it might be the dopamine thing, as i have noticed other symptoms which could be dopamine related. Im not to worried about it and not feeling depressed or anxious, but im sure my body and brain are going through a lot of changes at the moment. Im feeling good and positive about quitting, its strange though, everywhere else online i read and googled say stopping smoking will increase libido, im the opposite LOL :) Im sure it will pass though. I very much appreciate your reply thank you, its good to be able to talk.

Thanks again Take care G :)

First let me welcome you to the Forum, Gro23. I underwent a period of initial tiredness maybe a bit of depression, but nothing overwhelming. After about 2 months, I noticed I was a whole lot better in my body, whether due to exercise or not I am not sure. I do not have a partner, so this was difficult to judge, I did however know for certain my libido changed to an upbeat one around the 4month mark, everyone's body is different we each have different circumstances to deal with in our lives, this could take a short or a long time. Of course it could also depend on any Nicotine Therapy you might be receiving.

Congratulations on 6 weeks. Keep reading and posting.
