Today is my 1st day here in this forum. I really need to just express what I'm feeling today, my 4th month without a smoke. I'm really craving one this last week for some reason, I really don't have any friends to explain this to, they do not smoke and don't get it .The one friend I have that is a smoker just wonders why I quit. So I thought I would express my feeling and maybe I would feel better and I think it helps I've tried to quit before the longest I made it was 3 months now I"m at four. I choose not to smoke today, Thank for listening.

I am glad that you joined us and trusted us well enough to share your thoughts and feelings. I assume that this is your first time joining any quit group. I hope you will stay and participate as it helps others as well as yourself. When i joined a quit group it gave me the confidence to try to quit, and the belief that i could actually do so. Learning the mindset, or embracing the journey rather than fearing it or doing so begrudgingly makes this mission so much easier. Once realizing that smoking never did anything for us, but in fact caused many of our problems to begin with also helps to make the separation easier. Concern about money, health, wrinkles, even family pressures can be attributed to smoking.

You are doing great darwenn! If you have come this far, you can kick smoking to the curb. Read and learn and keep your resolve. Read my link to Allan Carr's free e-book which is recommended to all at any stage of the quit. Stay positive. Believe you can and you will.

I would like to add that your friend does not wonder WHY you quit smoking but HOW you COULD quit smoking. Some might even be selfish enough to try and sabotage your quit so that they won't be standing alone in the rain or blizzard. I was one of those people who could only wish that I could quit smoking too. I would never have believed I could and yet I have after more than 40 years. With the right understanding and attitude anyone can. Your friend may even quit after seeing that it is possible. My spouse and daughter have both taken my example. Perhaps that is my biggest reward of all.

Take pride in your accomplishment. Show others it can be done and help them along the way with your experience and insight. Be an active member here on iCanQuit. Be free, stay free!

Hi Darwenn. Well done on your Quitting, you are normal to still crave it, I still feel like one, especially when socialising, I too have good friends that still smoke. And it is hard, they actually don't make it easy, cos they don't understand how you have quit, but keep being strong. Your doing awesome!!!

Hey Darwenn, mate i am in month 10+ i think... Anyway, I still get them, they feel different, I can't exactly describe what they feel like but they are still there set off by things that use to make me reach for a smoke or a piece of gum/spray etc. Stick it out mate, next time you walk past a smoker feel sorry for the poor Bugga who is dragging it i and out and doesn't realise how silly it all is. You are doing great :-)
