Hello my friends! It has been a while since I have checked in. With having to find a new residence and then moving, it's been a busy time.

It's my 35 week anniversary of quitting today. I couldn't have done it without all of you. Your support was so instrumental in my quit process.

I only hope that all of you have been as blessed as I have.

Wonderful hearing from you Beth and so glad everything is working out for you. I trust you are still recovering well and enjoying your amazing 35 weeks of life as a non-smoker. Congratulations on a job well done and I hope we will be hearing from you more often now that you are settled.

Thanks to you both for your sweet words. I promise I will stay in touch. My recovery from surgery is going very well. I just had a second screening for lung cancer and that was negative. I am dealing well with the slight emphesyma(sp?)and slight COOD, without medications.

Hi Beth. Great news about your screening. May I ask what the doctor suggested to do for your copd? All i could find was diaphragm breathing and exercise . Did he advise an inhaler? I know i was diagnosis borderline 3 years ago, and knew to avoid the triggers. Everyday life is not affected, but if i get up in the middle of the night i am sometimes breathless when i hurry back to bed. I think it is the shallow breathing at night that might induce it, as mornings are fine. Hubby is happy that the wheezing has stopped since quitting smoking. Thank goodness we have done that much for ourselves!

Hi Happiness. I was prescribed an inhaler for the COPD when I was discharged from the hospital. However, I found after coming home and quitting smoking, I didn't need it. I think because I have such a mild case, I just don't notice much difference. I also had breathing treatments when I was in the hospital, that consisted of steroids so maybe that helped as well.

Hello BethP Thanks for helping me in the past, and great work for 35 weeks, yes I think its time to give yourself something special today or tomorrow.

schedule 14 Aug 2019

I think the best therapy for our copd is the diaphragm breathing as we can strengthen it. It is the exhaling that it assist with and would be of our benefit to exercise it. Deep breathing is good for our lung health too, so a win win. Doesn't it feel great to be able to breath that deeply now without bringing on a coughing fit. Thanks for the info. When i could have used an inhaler, i chose to stop being stupid and avoid the triggers, not use the inhaler to enable me. Then of course i quit smoking which is the best thing to do for it. Necessary in fact.

Happiness-I can't begin to tell you how much nicer it is to take a deep breath. I feel better in so many different ways. And I love that my clothes don't smell of cigarettes. And I don't smell of them either. Life is Dr good!
