Zyban Shortage
I live in Perth and apparently theres no Zyban to be had anywhere. All Chemists are out and not expecting anymore till end of July. Luckily, Ive got past that initial cravings phase so I should be ok, but could be a real problem for people just starting or coming off their 1st short prescription.
Is it the same in other states?
I am in Canada and have no idea about shortages elsewhere. I do want to assure you PV that you will be fine with the attitude and knowledge about the addiction of nicotine and you. All nicotine is out of your system (except for traces in hair) but your nicotine receptors have shut down . and you have replaced the smoking habit with other positive actions and thoughts. You seem to have adjusted well to the changes required, but for anyone having difficulties research ways of stimulating dopamine production. Our bodies do produce it on its own .
Did you know that with NRT's and Other Smoking Aids like Zyban, the fine print tells you that it has its best results COMBINED with councelling or support (one on one, or with a group such as IcanQuit). Learning is essential to sustain the quit as well as makes it sooooo much easier!

Absolutely having a change of thinking is the most important thing, without it you wont succeed no matter what you do, but Ive found Zyban bloody helpful

Hi PV. Glad to hear you are in the winner's circle. I checked the TGA shortages website and it lists zyban sr as unavailable until march 2020 so maybe your chemist is getting it from os. Happy to hear that the shortage isn't critical for you but sad for others new or ready to quit who may be affected.
Mine was $50 for a month so not very expensive. And far less than what I was spending on ciggies.. Its covered on the PBS.
I honestly would recommend it to anyone trying to quit. Yes you need to seriously WANT to quit, but having an aid that means you can do it without any cravings is a no brainer in my books.

Do you mind sharing which compounding pharmacy? I’m also in Perth and having a big struggle tracking and Zyban down - never thought of compounding pharmacies! I’ve never used one before and wouldn’t know where to start so if you can point me in the right direction I’d be very grateful, thanks
