Hi all. New to this site. I am 67 and have tried quitting with patches and gums and lozengers and vaps and on and on and on lol. Nothing helped. Went cold turkey 41 days ago and am still nicotene free. Feel like garbage though. Lots of aches and pains in the arm and mid back. The mid back is from a compressed disc i have had for years but the arms are new. Seem to be in a brain fog all day also.Very moody and anxiety levels are high. Went to docs about 2 weeks ago. They said it is normal and will take awhile. Anyone else feeling like this.Been a smoker for 50 years so it will take time i know. But wow felt better smoking which i know is a joke.

Hello manowar@369 and welcome. I have experienced the brain fog , but that was decades ago when i used Zyban and once feeling like that, i got scared and got off of it. Seven months ago I quit cold turkey and did have a few moments of feeling like that, but it was mild in comparison. I think it is just our brains confused and at a loss in a "strange environment".

If you read my story, you will know that I had No cravings after the 72 hours once the nicotine was gone. I can only attribute this to the fact that once I made up my mind to quit (which came about accidentally) I truly embraced and believed that i could take this journey to freedom . I try to get others to accept the concept of being a non-smoker by retraining their minds and hearts about their relationship with nicotine and smoking.

I encourage people to read the Easy Way book by Allan Carr who can explain why you feel as you do and how to let go. Stop the fighting within and finally be at peace with the best decision you have ever made in your life. It is not logical to fight something so wonderful. I was not logical to smoke either!

Nicotine controlled us for so long, and we now, with the help of this forum, have the power to take back our future health and wealth.

You are doing great manowar, Be Happy . Don't be Anxious but excited and Anticipate the day you feel that you have turned the corner and accepted this new way of life. Why wouldn't you?

Hi. Yes, I am yet another 67 year old having quit for over 4 years quit cold turkey and still visiting this site. Nearly $33000 pay rise is a bonus as this has not been money becoming ash. Let's face it, if we are stupid enough and cannot persevere with this life giving journey then it is not a problem. If one chooses not to go the distance it is easy to go back to the habit. It may however, be harder to be dying of lung cancer or some other smoke related disease. JUST A THOUGHT...

I am 65 and on day 18 of quitting.

Finely starting to be able to taste food again

Especially my coffee.....bought a different brand and OMG it tasted like rubbish!!!

Also realised just how awful smokes smell when you are near someone who is smoking! YUK!!!

Also have no nagging cough and my breathing is so much better now

Hang in there.
