May 24th Weekend in Canada and Bonfires

Let's start the season with a big bonfire. Please calculate and let us know how many cigarettes you have spared your lungs from and are thankful that you can throw on our bonfire this weekend.

21 days free and 1054 not smoked. Let's see them all go up in flames instead of into our lungs. Great idea happiness and enjoy your weekend.

Thank you FreshAirOK. Nice of you to join in. Anyone who is still smoking, please take a tissue and blow a puff of smoke through it. Point made. Throw in cigarettes you may not have smoked this weekend by delaying.

you can throw my last fifty eight days on the fire. it totals $1,987. that should spark your fire up . lol

5250 durries can join that bon fire (Cost $29 pack 25 smokes in pack) (350 days x 15 smokes a day)= $6090 NOPE

Thank you all for your cigarette donations and you will be happy to know that we had a successful bonfire that spared our lungs 44,299 cigarettes. That was just 10 participants. Next year i expect to see it blazing tenfold.
Congratulations to all you successful non-smokers..... be free!

Hi Red. I was sent an email yesterday by IcanQuit and I did reply letting my concerns be known. I can imagine how confusing it can be on an i phone. I tried to send an e-mail one day (first time on phone) and never did get it sent, it had to wait until i got home to my computer. I reminded them that a lot of us here are 60 plus. Just a few years ago I thought you would never see me use a computer, now I live on it, even dropped cable and watch on line.
I think they dropped the pages, and put load more stories....not helpful for people I try to send to my story link. So I put the links on a reply. Maybe it is time I posted another story with these links again.
Administration told me that they found a lot of people came and left without posting, so that is why they put the stories up. Hogwash. I told them people quit on a whim, see and go to have a smoke. Who knows, maybe they give it some thought and will come back eventually. There are a lot here hidding out, and that is fine if they don't want to participate. A friend at poker feels like that, so to each their own. The main thing is that they learn and act on a positive note.
Regardless of the outcome of this situation Red, I do hope that you and Nuts and others will at least keep in touch. I told Administration that I needed you and Robyn and others to back me up when i say quitting can be easy. You guys are a vital part of this community and it would be such a shame to lose you.
Just know that I did my part in relaying my concerns and I hope they will consider the points. I will remain here, loyal to the cause. I do hope you all will remain and help others to kick this vile addiction as well.

hey all, I've got a few cigarillo's 1047 to toss on ! Just a heads up for those watching and maybe have a coughing problem after 80 + days of no smoking. I found that the pollen in the air had been clogging my lungs a bit. Using a inhaler with albuterol helped tremendously in cleaning out the gunk !

4264 cigarettes passed, no calculation needed i got a great app on my phone :-) that's 7 month and 21 days

I do amend things when I state them incorrectly Red, but thanks and no worries. I have read that 93% of nicoine is out of your system when you awake in the morning. I have also read that the nicotine halves itself every 2 hours. Based on that there is minimal in your body in the morning and that is why the first one is so powerful and quick acting. I know that when i cut down to 5 a day for a couple of days, two puffs first thing in the morning was enough for me, or who knows if i may have passed out. I knew that most was gone and it was time to just quit, not draw out the agony. Rip the bandaid off so to speak or just DIVE in rather than agonize entering fridgid waters inch my grueling inch.
I recently amended my statement of gone in 72 hours to insignificant to the body. Trace amounts in urine and hair for weeks or months after, just like drug testing. For all intense purposes we are no longer addicted to the nicotine and have only the mind /habit to overcome. Yes the receptors are still there for 21 days and prone to activity if fed. Champix adheres and doesn't let nicotine give pleasure, and yet i have learned that it also helps to release spurts of dopamine to pleasure us. I posted about that too. I included a link as how to obtain dopamine naturally to help keep us in a better mood in a recent post with someone with concerns being on Champix.
I think we both agree that the 80% part of the journey is the hardest and longest to adjust to. We also agree that it doesn't have to be, as I am proof. A real want to be free and thinking positively will hasten this journey. We also agree that a craving is just a thought. How do you know if a craving is caused by nicotine or an nrt? After 3 days i think we can definitely say it is the NRT. I know that some will say that cravings ARE physical, but NRT's also cause the same side effects, nausea, dizziness, headaches, irritability. .....
While being so honest, I have also read that nicotine can ease anxiety, depression and irritability. Those writings don't take into account that nicotine is also the cause of those same feelings. Nicotine is the cause of this relentless circle of guilt, fear, feeling of inadequacies and a general feeling of helplessness. Only knowledge and understanding can free you from that.
There are natural ways to remedy most issues.
That said, I am glad you are sticking around Red. I am happy IcanQuit has graciously bowed to the wishes of their users.
