Hi everyone, wow 74 days smoke free and counting. I can report that my crazing to smoke is far and few, and I can now take deep breaths and fill my lungs with fresh air without coughing my head off. When I decided to quit smoking the first thought that came to my mind was, how could I function day to day and be happy if I didn’t have cigarettes to lean on when facing life’s challenging moments. Quitting smoking is really hard but it’s not impossible, each passing day you stop inhaling nicotine into your blood stream, is the moment you began to take back the power nicotine hold over you.

I am now on Day 5 smoke free! This morning I found it hard because I was feeling stressed. We are downsizing and moving house so not the best time, but there is never a best time to quit. I just have to do it. I miss the "time out" effect, when I would go out the back to have a cigarette and think about things or make a phone call. I am empowered by willpower! I will do this.

Red-67 thank you once again for bringing truth to light, Red, I really do get now, the notion that smoking help us cope with stress and the challenges of life is the big deception. Each passing day I don’t smoke weaken that lie that cigarettes is my friend in good times and bad.

Quitting smoking would be so much easier if one understood the nature of the beast. I am glad you unveiled the truth and escaped to freedom. Congrats on a successful journey Battle won...... an apt name as it is!!!

Hi Cazpritch, stay strong and hang in there. One thing I know for sure is that we who are addicted to nicotine, are absolute geniuses at lying to ourselves why we should light up one more cigarette. Stress, family problems, relationship brake up, money problems, etc etc, if you really want to smoke again there will never be a shortage of manufactured excuses to do so. But if you hang in there and put time & space between you and your last cigarette, then you will come to realize that quitting is a battle you can win.

Thanks for sharing the story. I am 13 days in at the moment and I am getting that same feeling. Trying to do this for my family as well as my health and I can't stop thinking about the things that I enjoyed smoking with. Good to know I will make it through and it should get easier.
