Extreme coughing after quitting?

Hi. I am 33. I have been smoking since I was 16 and I stopped for the first time 33 days ago. I stopped cold turkey. In the last 3 weeks ive coughed so badly that at times i can not breath. It lasts for up to 5 minutes at a time and it is scary. Afterwards, i have so much phlegm in my chest amd nose its utterly awful. I never coughed wheni smoked and now it feels like i have whooping cough. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Is this normal?Hi. I am 33. I , like Robyn also smoked 43 years and no real cough (occasionally, but usually just a little one getting out of bed) I was worried since i am quit 4 months and not coughing. Some do, and it is good because it is clearing your lungs of tar and toxins (I did however take the turmeric and ginger lung cleanse a week prior) Everyone is different. You are clearly concerned which means you should take it up with your doctor.
Congratulations on over a month quit. I hope you feel better soon.
