Update - Turkey Day 5

Hi all thought I would give you an update on how things are going. I did do an update on day three embedded in the comment section of my last post. I was seeking some input from you all and still am seeking input on how much longer to the cravings and withdrawal symptoms last. I hit the worst wall on day 3 of cold turkey. Truly thought I was going insane. But made it. Day 4 and 5 (today) better but still the cravings come in waves. And mine last ages they are not fleeting. So here is my question - do the 35 days logged on patches count in terms of craving management ? Do I get a credit ?! Lol or am I at start again because it’s all about the nicotine? If yes am I looking at more weeks of the same ? Oh and one other thing, I listened to an e book of Allen Carr book. Not quite finished yet but hoping it will help me make that flip in mindset about not sacrificing or losing but rather choosing the positives. Paraphrased.

Hi mate.
There is evidence of Quitters going the full 12 weeks with Nicotine replacement aids. I hope he doesnt mind but John 100 has successfully quit that way
There are others, I was one too!
I think in your case it might be a good idea to use an aide just to get you through. I think you definitely dont need to smoke since you have come this far!!!
Hopefully others may have some ideas for you

I personally think the 35 days with a patch or any NRT is a Quit as long as you didnt smoke

Hi Puff thanks for your comments. But I ain’t going back to no aids. I have freedom. Am just impatient to have the quit journey fading a bit. On the one hand I don’t think I could have quit without starting with the patches. But on the other hand I am thinking boy have I just logged painful time that doesn’t really count or help. Maybe it does maybe I am just losing my mind still ! It all does get a bit confusing the more one obsesses.

Yep
You are 40 days a non-smoker
You are being successful
Those 35 days do count

Hopefully this time you get some input from others.
I'm off for a bike ride with the dogs along the river..It rained alot overnight, so I'm hoping the river is running again.

ok. shamrock.... it is late, and i logged on and i did not read above advice. YOU are in control of YOUR quit! It does not matter what others think or would have chosen to do. ONLY y ou know you. I had it easy, maybe many don't think i am even qualified to comment. If you believe you will. Learn to believe if you don;t . I am not special. I wish i could give everyone a magic pill. It is within your power to quit. That is really all i know and try to encourage others to beleive. Be true to yourself. If you want it it will happen. If you don't then learn to.
Bottom line. Truth is all i can offer.
Anyone can quit. i do know that! i Am proof! The starting point is wanting, and believing. .....

In reading other xcomments above. Puff NoMore tried befoer and again by this comment i read has given in again. Every day you learn and cope to live without the cigarette or nicotine is invalueable. Never count it as a failure, but as a lesson. Knowlege is power. Learn and adjust. As much as i value these quit lines when positive, i do absolutely detest their negative enforcements. Thinking you will fail will never get you to your goal. Only positive thoughts do. They have equal power. Which do you believe. Ultimately that is what will happen. Period.

You know i have done what i could for you Puff No More. When i called you PuffNstuff after i really meant no humor. I did not know of the movie or a band. I liked the PuffNoMore name because I thought you believed in it. So Did I.

Thanks all. I hear you all. It’s just exhausting. But I am free. I am happy about this and very proud of myself. I am just moaning about the cravings or I should say the mental warfare. I don’t even want a cigarette. I don’t think about cigarettes. But I do get these enormous waves of discomfort, feels like hunger, an I satiable feeling, disorients me from my daily life or task, is foreign and unpleasant, likes to argue about what’s going on. Is this still called a craving even though there is no reference to a cigarette ? Am I going insane ? As I said it’s like warfare and I want them gone. I want to know they end soon. I want to know it gets better.

I will have to research whether smoking used up calories. thus making us feel hungrier. Regardless, i don't believe there is any better way to better your health than to quit smoking. In relation a few pounds is negligible. and temporary as we gain more energy and ambition. (truthfully i am still waiting, but it is snowy and minus 20 degrees here) . Keep up the terrific plan you are on Shamrock... worry about a few pounds later... it is natural.

I do believe a "craving" is like i have seldom but when i leave the house my chicklist for keys, phone, cigarettes.... whoops, i don't smoke....lol..... An automatic reflex like my husband experiences in reaching for his pack of smokes which is not there. Not that we wanted one, it is just a reflex or habit.
Althoug i clain i do not crave does not mean that i don't think about my smoking, nor does it mean i want to or miss it. Merely a thought which i dismiss very easily. I know i do not want to smoke and am very happy to have claim to the statue of a happy non-smoker in every sense.
I read Allan Carr even after my easy quit to reinforce. So far it has served me well.
Anyone can quit smoking if you truly want to.

Take her advice. Turn a negative into a positive.
Think you are in warfare and winning. Dont ever think you are loosing
To lose the battle is negative
Think positive, because thats what your doing!
You're winning everyday

Congrats on Day 40 Smoke-free and even better is that you are now nicotine free as well. The worst is behind you. Just remember that just one puff will breathe life back into and resurrect the nicotine monster.
Be happy and accept your new found freedom. You will not crave what you do not want. Think positive and embrace your new status as a non-smoker.
