There are so many fabulous stories here to follow and take advice from. The responses can be just as valuable. I enjoy reading them and i know others do as well.

Sometimes, they are hard to follow. Sometimes even in the end, the path taken or method is unclear.

I think it may be helpful to others to know so that they can make a decision that is right for them , and have something to follow and guide.

Whether success on the first attempt or the 30th, you all have valuable insight to share.

I would love to see a summation of everyone's quits. Things to include may be:

Method used

How long

Any relapses/when/why

any side effects

what you found to be the hardest part of the journey

Most helpful hint that worked for you

And anything else you care to share!

I also think it would be very helpful to include any changes to your quit that you feel would have made it easier if you had to do it all over again.

I hope all participate and share the knowledge and ideas. I know that i am looking forward to your story and getting to know you better.

Hi Happiness,

I quit Cold Turkey 60 days ago.

Although I did have 2 relapses in one year.

Firstly when I was distraught about a 7.4 earthquake where I work. The second time was when there were 2 deaths in my family. Both were emotionally challenging times.

Every quit time I found my weight soaring like crazy. Food was so comforting. Then came the insecurities that come with weight gain. I felt like crap.

I realised that my Mental Health and Physical Health needed to be in tiptop shape. Started exercising - a 30-40 min walk/run and eating healthy.

Working on my health and fitness has helped me love life and have a positive outlook. And to think I used to hate exercising.

Another thing that helped me was support of close friends and relatives. We are social creatures and we need that family and friend support system. Does wonders for mental health as well.

When you are so busy with bettering yourself and showing love to your loved ones, smoking is the last thing you will think about.

I hope my journey provides insights to whoever on this wonderful journey of being smoke-free.

Hi Happiness,

You have asked alot of questions here but the best advice I can give has been passed on from our predecessors, its;

Your want to abstain from a Puff, must be greater than your want to a Puff!

#$ Another is thinking the mantra NOPE

Not One Puff Ever

schedule 19 Jan 2019

Yes PuffNoMore. The NOPE mantra or those like it are on every quit site as #1 . I am glad you are finding it no more difficult now you have gone smart turkey for 12 days, than the cravings you were experiencing daily and more frequently while using your inhalers for weeks. Only you have the key to re-set your mind. By reading and learning , eventually the light-bulb moment will occur. Stay Strong and Keep Thinking Positive!
