Cold/Smart Turkey

I had not tried quitting for decades. Then i had no idea how to go about it. Cutting down and will power did not work 35 years ago . The patch and Zyban were both just a prescription with no help lines or psychological advice.
The most helpful in my quit was the quit line i first used. (this one is much better)It had so many success stories and friendly support that it gave me the confidence to try quitting again.
I had been starting to eat better, eating breakfast, and cut down on cigarettes by having to get up and get them. Had taken a lung cleanse of turmeric and ginger which i later learned curbed nicotine cravings. Joined the quit group, cut down to 15% of my usual cigarettes for 3 days and quit smart turkey. I can't swear that either had any effect, but they didn't hurt, cleaned my lungs and practiced the 4 D's.
I was surprised to find that the cravings were not physical but mere urges that only lasted a minute. I had no side-effects although i still took a pinch of ginger and turmeric in chicken broth to replace a coffee a day.
Most important i think was the belief that i could quit. I learned about nicotine, how it worked, my addiction once joining a group.
I took and used all i could with no regrets and would not change a thing. I read Allan Car after i quit for re-enforcement.
Anyone can do this if i can. Knowledge is Power. Mindset is Key.l

well done me and you both but I am in the Uk so running a little behind you, I tried Allan car last time worked for a week this time im more confident as I know what failure feels like and im use the money I save to buy stuff.

You are learning the mindset my friend YKNA. Should you need advice (or just like to share your story) you might like to start your own page, and be notified by e-mail of responses. Great hearing from you and continued success!

Well done Happiness. It seems your on the road to success. Quitting sometimes can take more than one attempt. Sounds like you've done it! Having support from others is key too :)
