Champix beware

Beware of champix. I have never had depression, anxiety or mental issues in the 50 years of my life. In about the second week of taking champix I encountered serious mental issues, depression, insomnia, anger and so many day to day issues that were way outside my normal behaviour and character .I was defamatory towards a number of people and almost ended up in court with dierectors of an ASX company threatening to sue me. I stopped champix after 3 weeks but the effects did not stop until over a month later. I went back to smoking soon after. I had been smoking for 30 years and tried almost every treatment to give up from patches, gum, mints. Finally what worked for me was vaping with 20mg flavoured e liquid, then every month reducing the e liquid nicotine level to 15, 10, 5 and then zero with just a flavour. Within 4 months I am off the cigs totally and I now vape various flavours. Now I can’t stand the smell of cigarettes. Why our nanny state federal government will not support nicotine vapour for this reason in beyond comprehension.

So Sorry to hear you had to go through that kind of Hmm trying to better yourself. Nothing is worse than cigarettes on the body, still vaping isn't safe either. On a temporary basis, i say go for it. It worked for you and now if i read things correctly you are nicotine free. It should be easier to break the vaping Habit. You have already beaten the nicotine addiction. Yes one was an addiction, the other is a habit. Habits are much easier to change. If you chose a flavoured vape and then substituted with the same flavoured candy would help make the transition? Just a thought.
Good work in finally achieving your quit. I hope you a lifetime of happiness with it. I would be interested to know if you still get cravings for the real thing?

Hi Hellcat. I am glad that you are smoke free and nicotine free. Vaping is just a replacement but still not proven safe. If you are interested in getting rid of it as well , maybe my post of Have you Given UP Given UP and taking your habit of vaping (even without the nicotine) at this time may be worth taking a look at. This would over time free you of it.
In my post , I advocate cold turkey first, or Champix for a very short term as a second method of stepping off nicotine. I realize you had a bad experience with Champix, Could you take a look at it and give me some feed back?
Your idea of using a vape is excellent, but i fear some would just use it to reduce costs and still use nicotine. Yes it is better than smoking, but not studied for long term damage.
Love to hear from you via a story or by comments. You take care now, and congrats!
