Quitting

Hi all I am a 58 year old male I started smoking at 13 and other then a four month period I have continued to smoke it is the first thing I do each morning and the last thing I do at night
I smoke around 20 to 30 smokes a day and just finished calculating what I would save if I managed to quit and it was over $8,000 the things I could do with that
I have spent the last few months thinking of quitting and am going to try to be smoke free from the 15/10/2018 (wish me luck )

You have made the right decision to quit. The money we wasted on cigarettes is ridiculous, only an addict would do that. I have Quit Tracker on my phone and I've only been smoke free for 12 days and 20hrs and yet have saved $359 already. Take a day at a time and you will succeed, or even an hour at a time, just know you can quit like many of the people on this site. I intend to stay quit and so can you.

Thankyou Robn and John for your encouragement I need all the help I can get but your words and wishes for me help no end

Well just put my last smoke out ( I hope ) have thrown away my ashtrays cigarette lighter and empty packet
I am really hoping that I can pull this off I do not enjoy smoking anymore but my first considerations are for my health and the money that it is costing me now
I have spent some time reading other peoples post and I have found inspiration to make this work
I am full of admiration for all of you that have managed to quit and stay quit I hope to be on the same list of all of you soon
Thank you

3Hi Markn, I'm 58 as well, been smoking since 13! I smoked my last one Sept 4 @10 pm! it's quite liberating! i am not using any NRT which is a first for me! i wanted to be Nic free!! I can't believe i'm 39 days it! it's mind boggling!! why i never! ever! got this far without !
Champix was my savior, however..i did not stay on it for recommended length. used it to get me through the worse part then quit those too! i'm plowing through this... when the urge hits... i get busy..mind and hands! lotsa water... i like putting lemon wedgies in my water!
the urges are further apart...and they are do able!!! they're short...just a passing thought....push it out of your mind and get busy! whatever you do...don't give in the the Nic demon....we are stronger than it!! hang in there...honest...it's doable!! ;)

Thank you Joanne for your words of encouragement I am hoping that I can stick to it like you have
I am sitting here ready to go to work and am craving one so bad I am glad that I have no smokes in the house
I know I can do this and your words have helped me this morning
Thank you
