Much harder the 2nd time around. I guess its the motivation behind quitting. The first time 5 years ago I hated smoking and very soon after I had quit I was revolted by smoking and enjoyed being a fanatic born again non smoker on a health kick! Then after 3 years I fell of the wagon and started smoking with avengance again. This time I have had to quit for health reasons and paranoia of the long term health implications and outcome and not because I dont enjoy it ... Anyhow go for 14 days on the Champix then 4 days after your quit date quit the champix... No sense in substituting some crap anti depressant for nicotine. They are both hopeless... Nicotine makes you manic. Champix diminishes the enjoymenty not just of nicotine but other aspects of your life also. According to icanquit I am on day 31... Its a real battle this time. After 43 years (minus 3 years I managed to quit) of smoking my hand is constantly in smoke holding mode. That is more annoying than the passing cravings...

Hi Leon, if you’ve done it before you can do it again. It’s hard but doable. I’ve been through a similar experience when I stayed quit for around 2 years but decided to prove to myself that I beat my addiction by having just one puff that very soon became a full fledged addition again. This time I am not going to prove anything to myself - nope (not one puff ever). It gets easier to live without smokes as the time goes by. And after a while it becomes normal not to have smokes. Good luck in you endeavor.

Hi Leon.

I see from another post than you are 72 plus day quit. Good for you. The fellow you responded to had read Allan Carr's Easy Way and had no cravings but took one cigarette and became addicted again. That is what an addiction is. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know the book does work for most people and did for this fellow. He admitted he had no cravings, he just tempted fate and lit up. The books clarifies facts, assuages fears and just needs you to understand to get the mindset. Then all you have to do is QUIT SMOKING PERMANENTLY . ...... Voila, No Cravings! I have achieved it without the book, so have others here. I encourage you to read our posts. Best of luck in your quit.

Hi Leon,

I have just uploaded my story with quit experience. I am in same boat as you. This is my 2nd quit as I relapsed into chewing tobacco after quitting smoking and chewing for good 2.5 years. This 2nd quit came after 3.5 month's chewing tobacco and I am on day 38. I know what you are going through as I feel the same, 2nd time around quit is feeling bit more challenging.

On positive side, we have proven to ourselves before that we have what it needs to quit and we need to repeat it.

I am hoping that 12 weeks mark should do the trick, I am almost half way on that!

Please keep updating your experience as I am very curious to know how you go. We can be quit buddies :)

Hi Leon. I truly hope this finds you as a Happy non-smoker, but i don't recall seeing any comments recently.

You have quit smoking successfully in the past, and although you relapsed, you do retain the belief that it is possible. How could you not, you have done it. You know it is possible. We also know our plans can get rail roaded and off track. If so, please read my post "Have you Given Up Given UP. Try This!!!.

Different strokes for different folks.

I am looking forward to seeing you around the community.

All the best
