Struggeling but still breathing

Hallo everyone. This is the first time I am posting anything on the site. I have been quit for 26 days. The first few weeks I have used champix and have read Allen Carr's book. It was so easy! I was extremely confident that I have done it this time. I have also kept a diary and yes there were days more difficult than others but all in all extremely easy to cope with. Then week 3 and 4 started.....My goodness do I suffer now! I must mention that I have stop taking Champix as it made me very depressed - I couldn't cope with that feeling. I thought that I was over the worst but for some reason I get these thoughts of, oh just take one, you can decide when you want to smoke, you do not have to smoke every day...! How dumb is that!! I know if I start again I will be back to 30 a day or more. I just wanted to share my week 3 and 4 with you. I am now taking it day for day. I am fighting those nicotine addictive thoughts with everything I have got. I guess I just need to know that it will get better soon, that maybe somebody else felt this way during week 3 and 4..... :-(

Hi there, I didn’t take Champix but read a lot of posts that once you get off Champix you start feeling withdrawal pains. On the upside is that it does get better and better the longer you stay off the cigs. And hopefully you’ll get to that point sometimes soon. Just about everyone on this site went through the struggles but if you stay off the nicodemons long enough they’ll become unnecessary. Good luck

I felt that way. I'm 4 weeks quit cold turkey. Sometimes I think the same. However, it does pass but that doesn't mean it's easy, because it's not. You have the right attitude taking it day by day. That's the best way to handle this.
I think it does get easier, but I also think it's a conscious decision every single day to not have a cigarette.
You can do this! The Champix blocked the nicotine receptors in your brain. Now that you stopped it, some of the receptors are firing to try to get some nicotine. This will get better each day you don't smoke. The receptors will eventually go mostly dormant. One trick I used was to put a small piece of ice in my mouth and place it between my upper gums and cheek. It helped disrupt those signals from the brain. You only have to leave it there for a few seconds. Keep quit!!!!
