Smoke's Cough

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 24 Sep 2018

Hey everyone,

I've been a smoker for approximately 16 years. I don't know that I'd consider myself a heavy smoker because a pack would typically last me a week sometimes one and a half weeks, but during the more stressful times it would be worse and I would smoke a pack in maybe less than a week.

I had recently quit for approximately 8 months, but some things happened in my life and I started up again and have been smoking for about 2 and a half months. I quit last Thursday and I feel like total crap. I have this deep cough that sounds deathly. It picks up mainly at night, but sometimes during the day it can start too. I thought at first that it was a cold or allergies, it hasn't occurred to me that it may be because I quit. I also have wheezing that I can hear sometimes. Should I be concerned? Or will this pass?

It will pass. The body reacts in strange ways after you quit smoking. I developed thrush after 2 weeks. basically a fungal infection on the tongue... it went away in a week
