No smoking day 2

I stopped smoking a couple of days ago. I've been a smoker for ages. Over 20 years. It's probably the hardest thing my body has been through, resisting to smoke. You don't realise how addictive it is until you stop. However, I'm determined to see this to the end.
Day 1 was by far worse than today, Day 2. My body just wanted nicotine, and fighting off the cravings was hard work.
I was told if I could make it through the 3 day hump I'm good to go. So that's my goal at the moment, keeping it small and attainable.
I've been drinking plenty of water and staying away from triggers that give me the urge to smoke.
The hardest part of the day is after work. I used to have a cigerette when I got home, now I can't so it's a matter of retraining myself into finding other things to occupy my mind. So far so good but I find this is the part of the day I feel agitated.
Other than that, I feel pretty ok. I am feeling tired as not smoking disrupts your sleep because your brain is no longer getting nicotine. I read a crappy sleep for a while is temporary till your body adjusts.
Good luck to all on this difficult journey! It's tough but it will be worth it :)

Welcome Haydee, you have made a great decision to rid yourself of the habit. Just focus on getting through each day/hour whatever it takes to not smoke. Smoking is addictive by nicotine and also habit, so the busying yourself part is good. Just grit your teeth and when the cravings come understand that you no longer want to smoke it's only the addiction talking. So hang in there you can do this!!!

Good job Haydee! I'm on day 9 and can only say it does get better! Day 4 was probably the hardest day for me but each day since has been easier, although I can't wait until I'm at the month mark as time seems to be going very slowly at the moment!

Thanks for that Noodleworm. I can relate, feels as though time is at a standstill at times. Each day is different at the moment.

Thanks 7 Bell. Well done on 11 days. Make sure you reward yourself. Gosh it gets tough though huh! It's great being on a community minded forum such as this to read other's experiences, it helps.
A day at a time is my perspective also :) Each day adds up, woo hoo!
Keep up the good work and thanks for the encouragement.
