I did it after 35 years

Hey guys, I'm new here, 3 days in, I've been smoking for 35 years, this is my first attempt to quit, I'm taking Champix, to be honest, I feel completely lost, I'm so programmed to be a smoker, but excited it's over, I hope 😆😆

Hi Raq, how are you doing? Still on track in your quitting regime?
It is very normal to feel lost, as we were smokers our lives were governed by the white false friend.
Yes we were programmed, it controlled every waking moment of our days,
but now you start taking controll of your own days..
Let your mind power be determined in your goal
You can do it.

Thanks Jenno, still going well, still trying to adjust to this new life style, my sooooo out of my comfort zone, but at the same time, so relieved I finally saw sense and quit

Great Raq, take 1 day at a time, believe in yourself, even though you are out of your comfort zone
you are the Master of this journey.. its a habit you have created and allowed the habit to suit your needs for the past 35 years and your body
mental and physically are going through some very heavy duty ordeals to get the habit out of your system, its going to take some time.
Early days yet, but you have made a great start.

You couldn't have put that any better Jenno, thank you, I have just woken up to read this, that has given me some more strength and inspiration for The day, I love that positive vibe around your attitude, I keep self talking telling myself how lucky I am, I've just possibly given myself another 20 years of life

You can do it, just keep going. Its not just adding years to your life, its about adding healthy years of living to your life. Just think of all those things you will be able to do. I was over 60 when I quit, my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. Keep going and embrace every day. Debbie

Thanks Debbie, I feel an incredible amount of relief already. As hard as it is, I'm so so happy I finally did it, I have so much to look forward too now, I had in the past just accepted that I will have poor health and die early, now I'm feeling like, if I want to live until I'm 90, i can 👍😘

Hi Raq, haven't seen any recent posts from you
so i am hoping that you have reached day 13 and still on track to being a quitter.
Best part about being on the Forum is that we are all the same, all on the same journey of
letting go of a false friend and also knowing that we are not going to die from not having a smoke.
Its a great forum that you can bounce your feelings, your moods or highs n lows of your journey,
we all can understand what you are going through, cause we all have or are going through the same issues.
Would be great to know you are travelling ok....

Hey Jenno, thanks so so much for remembering me, and I'm proud to say, I'm on day 13, you have messaged in perfect time, I am struggling a little, not with the craving, but the emotional part of the addiction, I had an incredibly stressful day/ night yesterday, however resisted the temptation, thank god 🙏🙏🙏

Great news that you have reached day 13....
very trying times for you now and times ahead, but be determind and remember you are going to be the winner over this addiction,
your body is craving all the chemicals that you have indulged yourself in,
but thats in your past and you are taking control, you are the master of your destiny..
Giving up somethong that you have enjoyed in your life... its a hard task but very do-able..
And no one has died from giving up smoking.
Apart from your body craving, which is very hard, but also the mind power...
I am surround by smokers on a daily routine, but as i enjoy the smell.
I also tell myself that, thats my past of choosing not to smoke no more...
You will have days when you will thin..... just 1 smoke wouldn't hurt...
but don't be fooled, your body craving is hoping you will let your guard down
You have done really great to get to this stage..
Its only newbie days as yet but you are doing great.
