Frustrated

I feel frustrated when I continuously read about if you get your mindset right it's easy to quit. I am on day 52 and I'm going pretty good I am in the process of weaning down off NRT lozenges in mgs & to 3 per day. I feel very confident that I will succeed & know to watch out for letting my guard down but I have to be honest I dont get or feel that it's easy if I'm honest. Then I read that if my mindset is not right I will fail. This is true as it takes sheer determination. I refuse to fail even if I don't grasp the concept of easy to quit......

By the way I am not having a go at other people's fabulous posts, I'm only envious & stating that my experience is not always easy. I do so appreciate all the comments & all the support & understand everyone's journey is different ๐Ÿ˜Š

Leeann, good luck in your own effort to quit. Some people truly believe that if you don't set your mind right you will fail. From my personal experience I can only say that an addict is always an addict. Twice before I had quit successfully- one time I lasted for over two years and the other time for just over a year. Each time I told myself that I had my addiction beat and stupidly took one puff to prove it to myself. Guess what? I hated the very first puff because it tasted bitter, smell coming out of my lungs was awful and overall it was a pretty bad experience. However, there was a second puff, and before I knew it I finished the whole cig and then finished the next cig and the next and soon enough was hooked again. That't because inside my brain I have nicotine addiction receptors and no matter what I tell myself about the right or wrong state of mind I know I will fail if I take just one puff. Therefore, it's NOPE concept for me from now on in order to stay smoke free - Not One Puff Ever. It's your quitting journey, you do what's best for you and good luck.

P.S. in order to succeed your desire to succeed has to be greater than your desire to have a cigarette no matter what.

Hi Safe2017 I too have quit numerous times for months or at best 7 years. I know too about getting re a hooked one putrid puff at a time, I am an addict to it. Having done 7 years quit and failing back through a trauma is not something I'm proud of but makes me aware that it is a habit that can slink back like an old friend when your chips are down. Thank you for sharing your story as I get it, so similar to mine I dont find it always easy but I know quitting is a mindset for me of sheer willpower, guts and determination.

Hi Leeann, I can totally relate!

I just keep thinking..Wow!! Keep telling myself how good I'm doing, 42 days and not one puff. I went out with work colleagues friday night, and there are a few that smoke! And I was a lil sad to not be hanging with them like I usually would..but my other part of me was like, least I'm not out in the cold. .ha ha. And I guess I was pretty happy with myself that I just knew I couldn't go there!

I often wonder if hypnotherapy works?

But I think i have the want and know I can't have one puff ever again! Cos I too am an addict!

Your doing great..and I hope you feel proud too ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
