How long does it take

I keep seeing the same thing on this site '500 days and still fighting the habit" "3 years today, and still strong" God, can you 6 month plus guys just sod off and allow us to struggle through thinking that the habit will just become a distant memory? Surely if you are still fighting after three years it would be best if your life was at leas contented by having a smoke now and then? Rant over!

Yeah it's hard cause everyone's different as to how long they go through nicotine withdrawal/cravings.

Webbquit, you are clearly finding it very tough and have on occasions reverted back to smoking. This site is for you mate, you need to be focused and determined in order to stop. I found the first 2 weeks the hardest but after that it really is nothing more that your own brain that keeps you wanting. The poison is gone and cant get you anymore. Dolly, great news from you, day 62 should be your day to say "I don't smoke anymore and never will" I think you should even say goodby to this site as your hard work is over and the less you have to do with smoking the better. Don't be a "5 years now and still free" type, you are already a non smoker and well done. I will be a none smoker very soon.

I for one am hoping to come back to the site with words of encouragement for many years to come. I think it's so beneficial for new and old quitters to add their experiences for others to learn from.
