Why am I not dead from Smoking already

Being a smoker for over 45 years with a habit that has seen as much as 60 a day on occasions. I have listened to the many stories of how devastating smoking is in health and pocket but never really cared enough to banish my long lasting friend to the trash.

What did it for me was a combination of poor circulation in my legs and the fact that I started to realize that I actually wanted to be with my family a little longer. I decided that will power alone would never work and the use of Nicotine replacement just seemed to defeat the whole stop smoking thing.

Champix was my best option and I actually made the decision day on the 5th day of taking the tablets. We are now on day 18, I actually feel that I am still a smoker and constantly reacting to triggers from my day to day routine. I really wish that these feelings will fade soon, I am sure if I get told I have another 6 months to go I might just light up.

Thanks Dolly, I think the Champix are keeping the real urge away and I have even joined the local Gym to see if this can remove some of the cravings - also need to keep the belly down as I am certainly eating a lot more

Thanks Red, I totally agree, "I still think I am a smoker" I am trying hard to change habits and this is one of the main reasons I wanted to join a forum.
