Careful!

I've been doing well with quitting. Even had to stop alcohol, as every time I drank I'd end up smoking again. Problem is I've begun playing pokies to relieve stress. I'm either at work or at home cleaning and it feels like it's just a neverending workload without a break. A few months ago I'd have a cuppa and smoke when stressed or even go out to a club etc and have a few drinks, smokes and dance my cares away but now it's nothing but work, work, work. I've found on my days off, when I'm fed up with cleaning, mowing, washing etc I've been going to the club and sitting relaxing and playing pokies. I LOVE it and they have free coffee and biscuits etc so it is like a day out but I'm blowing all my spare money. I need something close to home and fun to do to which can provide me with some relax time.

I agree Red. I did everything I used to do...but smoke. It was WAY easier than I thought it would be because I was SICK of smoking. Didn't want it, so within days...I didn't crave it. I still love my coffee...beer...and bourbon in moderation.

Be careful not to exchange one addiction for another. Have you discussed this with your GP? Also there is a group called SMART recovery, I haven’t attended but know some who have and they have appreciated this group which apparently looks at all forms of addiction, it’s also something other than work and chores, so may be a positive there too.

Today I have decided to finally give up this shocking habit.I feel guilty when I smoke and I am sick of it .
Had success with champix a while ago ,however a stressful time made me pick up a smoke again.
Trying willpower this time.
