Hi all today is my Birthday and i am 2 years 1 month without a cigarette or 761 days.

I never thought this was possible in the beginning, I had smoked since the age of 13 I stopped one month before i turned 60 at which time I was smoking around 40 a day sometimes more.

So it can be done. the longest I had ever gone without a cigarette was I think around 6 days, and I think I still had a puff on occasions.

We are all different so find what works for you and go with it, this forum helped me so much in the first year without this community I am not sure if I would have made it.

It's funny but after reading over this I still don't refer to my experience as quitting, it has always been that I do not smoke. Somewhere in my head, not saying that I was trying to quit has helped me it has always taken so much pressure of me at least in my head

As I said it can be done, you just need to find what works for you, I wish everyone well on the journey to a smoke free life. Good Luck

What a success story! From 40 a day and smoking for 45+ years to quit, incredible! You should be very proud and know you are motivating and inspiring myself and many others on the forum. Its amazing how fast the time goes after you hit the year mark. I am looking forward to hitting the 2 year mark in another 8 months.

Congratulations, I look forward to seeing your future posts indicating other milestone achievements!

That’s fantastic, storm. Inspiring. Giving me hope - I’ve never been a heavy smoker, but I have smoked for over 50 years. I’m pretty amazed at how quickly my cough disappeared and my throat-clearing habit has also disappeared within two weeks of quitting. I am battling with sadness, feeling weepy all the time. A bit irritable, and very tired, but trying acupuncture to help deal with the cravings. I’m not sure if it’s helping, but I cannot use NRT as it makes me feel very sick. I just keep thinking that maybe today will be easier.
