Champix and high blood pressure
Hi folks - I am about to start champix for the first time. I have heard lots of conflicting stories re taking champix if you have high blood pressure. I am 50 yrs old and my blood pressure is currently high 149/91 and I am worried to commence despite my Dr advising that it is ok to do so as stopping smoking is vital for my health. Appreciate any advice.
For your reassurance. I have had high blood pressure for years. I took Champix for three and a half weeks along with my other medication. It worked brilliantly. It did its job with no side effects. Give it a try. Monitor how you feel and tell you GP if you feel unwell with it. Age - nix - I'm older then you. You'll have a story to tell! Lots of luck.
Thanks Moonbeam, Im on to day 15 now and totally believe the champix is working. I am also eating better and exercising. My blood pressure has leveled out and I feel good most of the time except for the hectic dreams! Am looking forward to being a non smoker.:)
