844 days quit so far and consider myself really lucky to have survived this far without a cigarette. Having tried to quit a few times in the past the difference this time was to crush any thought that one puff or one cigarette would be ok. I took a photo selfie 🤳 of my last smoke and kept it. It is so true that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. The first few weeks quit were not very pleasant but it didn’t kill me. Thanks to the support here of dedicated quitters I managed to fend off thoughts of smoking. Quitting is a great gift , and one of the hardest thing to do for an addicted nicotine fixer. However , the rewards of quitting just keep piling up and up. Tip . Regularly read the posts here and contribute often.

Your posts are always great and I know they helped me. I am on 708 smoke free days today. I am sure you have helped many people to keep going with their quit plans. Well done, I think that's great.

Your post made me realize that I will always need to be on guard of my quit. I have just passed a year and I do find it gets easier with each passing week / month. I used to count the days, now it more so weeks and months. You are more than double my quit days and still you recommend, and find support from this site which is encouraging to me. In a strange way, knowing others are still active on this site that are so much further ahead in their quit then I am gives me strength to continue being a non smoker.

You are so right Dobbin, no matter how many days/ years we’ve been quit we can never become complacent. That one puff can never be worth the risk!

Thanks all for the responses. Good luck Choose Life. I always knew that deep deep down I could quit. Although you smoked again you will have learned some valuable lessons
