STAYING STOPPED AT 5 WEEKS

I had to quit. I needed extensive oral surgery and the doctor said nicotine would greatly reduce the chances of success. I'm also a 57 year old male...who didn't want to die gasping for breath if I could help it.

My wife quit with me. A huge help. A month before I began using this filter-type product at the end of my cigarettes called...Nic-Out. It claims to remove 80 percent of tar and nicotine. Great stuff. We shopped for lo-cal food...ordered Netflix...she got some sewing projects on the go and I started walking the dog for two hours a day.

We also use non-nicotine disposable vape stix as pacifiers...but now that we're a month in...I don't think they'll be getting much use anymore. No need.

It's been challenging...but not nearly as bad as I thought. I've really upped my exercise and I sleep more.

I don't want to become a preachy non-smoker...but when I smell it on other people...I want to puke. Our home smells amazing and I lost the smoker's cough. I smoked for 40 years...about a pack a day.

I am very motivated, but not over confident. That would be disastrous. Good luck everyone.

Well done! I am glad to hear that the smokers cough you had has gone. I too am 57 and quit just 3 days ago. This is monumental for me. But I have faith I won't return to smoking. However, I still have a really bad cough so reading that it will settle is good news. Take care and all the best for the future.
