Champix
Hello everyone. I wanted to share my quit experiences with you - I have been smoking for years after starting up as a teenager (peer pressure) and have always intended to quit "one day". After being a committed smoker for a good 20 years, I decided to quit 10 years ag0 - started with will power - 6 weeks - then Alan Carr - 3 months - then Zyban - allergic but quit for 8 months - then Champix - quit for 3 years - been smoking again for past 2 years - and am now on Champix again - quit smoking after 10 days on tablets - been on tablets now for about 6 weeks - problem is they make me nauseous, very cranky, and just general feeling awful - but I do not have any cravings for cigarettes and spent an evening with a smoker and was only vaguely tempted to have a drag - but my mind is made up not to smoke - Last time when I quit for 3 years I stopped the Champix after 6 weeks of tables (having quit after 1 week on it) and I am struggling to keep on them. I worry though that perhaps because I didn't go the full 3 months on my previous attempt that if I don't go through to 3 months, I may be tempted again - perhaps that is just psychological - what an insidious nasty addiction nicotine is - btw when I started again after 3 years it was a drag here and there for months - I thought I was in control of my addiction but clearly not as I was soon back to 20 a day!! Any how just wanted to share my story and wish you all the best of luck and keep trying to overcome this awful addiction x
