This is not my first time on Champix. 7 years ago I took champix and it was a miracle. I was such a heavy smoker and the 'switch' was turned off over night. I really thought it was a miracle at the time. I had absolutely no want for a cigarette for 5 years. Then one night on a holiday in Thailand my GF and i got very drunk and I woke up with cigarettes in my purse. No idea how they got there and i didn't smoke the rest of the trip but then I decided to just have one when I got back to Aus. Big mistake. That harmless one turned into a full blown habit again. Here I am 2 years later and I am on Day 9 of champix and only smoked 3 cigarettes in that time (first 2 days of taking pills). I was smoking 10-20 per day. Double that if drinking. The main issue I had with champix is the nausea. The way I have conquered it this time is to get a anti nausea tables prescribed by a doc. Have one mouthful of food then the anti nausea tablet and then eat some more food and then after a few minutes have the tablet. You must also have food left over to eat after having the champix. it sounds a bit methodical but I have had no bouts of nausea on this script. The last one I was literally vomiting in the work toilets. The only time I had had a really sever e craving is when I went out for drinks with friends on Sunday and I couldn't smoke. I almost felt like sulking like they were all having fun smoking and drinking and I was bored with my lonely old drink. I feel so pathetic but my mind really misses them, which is crazy! I love reading everyone else's stories and its nice to read I'm not alone. Good luck with everyone trying to quit. I'll give an update in a couple of weeks. :)

Hi there! I also quit a heavy habit overnight on champix and didn't touch cigarettes for 3 years - I really thought I was over it! A friend of mine smokes, and it didn't bother me - but somehow I found myself having a drag of her cigarette every now and then - and then I found myself having a whole cigarette with her - and then .... before I knew it I was back to 20 a day - so here I am back with Champix which is the only thing that works for me (I have tried all methods) ..... Quit on day 6 and now on 6 weeks of champix and struggling - again - with side effects .... planning to do another week on Champix and then ween myself off the tablets - this time I went cold turkey on alcohol, coffee and cigarettes - not sure how or why that happened as I love my wine - but feeling so much healthier - just very grumpy and nauseous - will try your little trick with anti nausea - thank you. Best of luck and I am feeling confident I am going to kick the addiction for good this time!
