Sick of myself

schedule 19 Oct 2017

I have quit smoking so many times over the years, only to resume it again. Tomorrow is yet another quit day for me and this time I am absolutely determined to never resume it again. I am very grateful for the comments and suggestions I've received and am sorry I haven't replied personally but I am grieving for the loss of my husband who died 8 weeks ago. He would be so proud of me for quitting.

You go jellycake. Smoking is revolting! (I am only on day 10). Being free of tobacco would make you feel so much better.

I have been listening to the Alan Carr for women on audible. It certainly helps me.

Hi Jellycake. I too recognize the pain you are feeling. It is best experienced without cigarettes. Life can be cruel but feeling the pain is also very important. How on earth can inhaling fumes possibly ease any pain? Best to go with the highs and lows of what life dishes up without feeling some kind of poison may alleviate the pain. Live through the pain and the tears. Face what has happened. Grieve freely and make sure you cry. Then work out how you will enjoy your time on earth and do the best you can for the memory of those who have departed. Huge responsibility.

hi jellycake, don't be sick of yourself, be proud that you are still determined. You could have given up trying but haven't, so that is excellent. Really sorry for your loss, I would be proud you can try to quit at this time too. I found great help in a $10 pdf book called 'cognitive quitting'. I think the exercises were what stopped me from falling over and taking up smoking again. It made great sense to me it may hep you too. He has a website you can google, and it helped me listen to my body lots instead of just reaching for a ciggie. Well done keeping trying and good luck

Hi Jellycake, I can imagine what you are feeling. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my friend from early childhood age three two weeks ago. I was at his bed side when he passed away. After surgery we both promised to each other that we will quit smoking but my friend did not make it. So I decided to keep the promise live so my friend can see from heavens above. He will be proud of me as your husband will be so proud of you. Keep it up and never give up!
