126 smoke free days

still get strong cravings but have learned to ignore them until they go away

I just needed to realize the cravings disappear fairly quickly when ignored

I only have 2 concerns now

my lungs do not seem to be coughing up that black flem

so I am now wondering if I had developed COPD before I quit

and maybe I should go see a doctor to find out

also I read that I should watch my caffeine intake

ooops ,,, a good cup of coffee is my most effective way to battle the cravings but I am wondering if all this coffee is a bad thing

anyway heading for another month of being smoke free

I smoked 54 years and 3 packs a day for last few years

if I can quit so can you,,, just make up your mind that you are tougher than the habit

Wow, that's four months! Congratulations. It must feel marvellous being free at last and never having to smoke again.

I hope that your lungs recover. Keep us posted.

Thats great. I have made many quit attemps before. Today is day one for me. Well done. Might i suggest trying some camomile tea instead of coffee? Far calmer effects and caffiene free.

Well done. Keep it up.

Hi ehw. Like you I quit after many years of smoking ( 53 ). It is unlikely we would have escaped Scott free of damage and in my case it was hardening of the arteries. I had 3 stents before I gave up. At 69 years of age I would expect my health to deteriorate in any event. Good idea to visit the doctor of course as , I you were like me , avoiding the inevitable was a way of life till I quit. ( Now over two years quit ). Good luck
