Champix is OK so far

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 30 Oct 2017

I am now over 7 weeks smoke free. I am on a 12 week course of Champix. I have seen lots of negative stuff written about Champix, so this is simply to say that it's been OK for me and has really helped me get this far. I know I have to stop taking Champix soon - which may be a challenge if cravings kick in - but I am strongly resolved to quit for good. I'll update progress in a few weeks...

Well done! I've just posted my experience with my 3rd day on Champix. I too am finding it ok. I'm just concerned with what day 4 onwards will have in store for me. Any tips would be hugely appreciated.

Keep up the great work

schedule 2 Nov 2017

I smoked on for almost two weeks after starting Champix. I lost the nicotine craving completely after a week and just kept smoking a little on the second week. Then stopped completely. It has not all been brilliant for me on Champix. My sleep has suffered and it feels a bit like I am slightly stoned all the time - a bit fuzzy. My motivation (usually pretty high) has fallen off and I am ending watching more TV - so looking forward to coming off next week. However I really do want to quit (a smoker for over 40 years - duh). I have also drank a lot less alcohol (which is probably a good thing too) and have really lost the taste for it. Anyway, whatever the downsides, they have been OK for me and a small price to pay. Stick with it Ronyag and Mandy81!

I am so determined to beat this. Whatever the effects of what Champix will bring for me is definitely a small price to pay for a life of better health.

I'll be following your journey so be sure to keep us updated. All the best

schedule 4 Dec 2017

Its now three weeks since I stopped Champix and 12 weeks since I last had a cigarette. All going well. Did not suffer any strange effects or major cravings coming off the Champix, although I do ocassionally feel like having a cigarette. This is a feeling that quickly passes and one that I expect to continue into the future. That's OK. I think I am now going to call myself and ex-smoker. Hope things are going well for you guys, Ronyag and Mandy 81.
