Cigarettes Controlled my life.. NO MORE!!!

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 1 Aug 2017

When I was smoking everything was controlled by it. I didnt get to enjoy time with family when they visited because once an hour or more Id have to go out an light up. When it came to finances Id rearrange bills to pay for smokes. Id cut out at my kids programs at school to get a cig. Everything I did it had a hold on me. I am now at 13 days cold turkey no smoking. I have smokers flu right now and the symptoms are subsiding. I just have the tightness in my chest and the occasional breath that is hard to get. My doctor says that will go away in about a week or two. My lungs are healing. I realized that being controlled by a product that has absolutely no benefit to me didnt deserve the power I was giving it any longer. My kids deserve my time. My family deserves to see me grow old. I cant wait til the issues with my lungs are over because if anything it shows me daily that this isnt what I want in my future. I dont want to be a cigarette ad on TV with a breathing machine. I control my life and my body. And anyone who says they cant do it doesnt really want it.

Well done to you! It feels so good to get the days numbering behind you, it does get easier but there are times/days where it can feel harder than when you first started. Hang strong, it is worth it and so are you..

Hi Rise and Grind.

Ditto to all in the previous posts from a 26 month past smoker. Couldn't have said it better.

schedule 2 Aug 2017

I am trying and some days are easier. But I definetly dont know what I was waiting for all this time. I dont know why I thought this would be such a struggle. All I can say to anyone that has a younger quit date than mine is that you really have to want this to make it work. After I get over this initial little sickness I plan to get back in the gym. I just started moving to a new smoke free place today so we shall see how this goes!! Having the ability to smell and taste again is definetly going to take some getting used to!

Thanks for the inspiration, Rise and Grind. I had my last cigarette an hour ago and am going cold turkey.
