Champix

Hi, I started Champix 15 days ago. The first week was okay,on the 0.5 mg dose. Bit of a headache and sore throat but bearable. On the day I started the 1 mg dosage it got much worse, really bad headaches and I had a lot of fatigue. It was unbearable, so I went back to the lower dose. The problem is now, I am past my quit day and still smoking about 5 cigs a day. Question is how long can I take the Champix and still smoke or should I take the Champix and try the NRT replacements such as the lozenges? Any experiences that you can share would be appreciated.

Hi jop, I didn't stop until about 4 weeks in. The Allen Carr app really helped me get my mind focused, even though the champix was making smoking yuk. You just have to believe that there is no reason to smoke. And that nothing bad will happen to you when you stop. I went through a very down week when withdrawing, but that is pretty normal. Lots of exercise, nutrition, vitamins and water helped. I am now on day 89, still on champix and feeling really happy and proud:) hang in there , you can do it!

Hi Jop,
Champix is great but as already mentioned, it can have side effects. Is there a way you can speak with your doctor or pharmacist? I think you can combine NRT but not 100% sure. If you definitely can't tolerate Champix, then you could try cold turkey or if a very heavy smoker, nrt combo. There are lots of options available and I hope you find the right one for you.

Hi!
Have you eaten before each pill? First time on champix I had really bad nuasa (But I didn't eat in the mornings), now my second time on it, as long as I eat I don't feel sick or I do, but only very slightly.
First time on it I didn't quit, went through the entire 12 weeks and was still smoking (I also wasn't entirely ready to quit).
2 years later, it took me 4 weeks on it to quit, now 5 days smoke free, and I'm craving like a mad woman, but I honestly do already feel better.
Goodluck! You can do this!
