My slip up actually helped me....

By no means am I suggesting people slip up and go back to smoking, but in my case, my recent lapse has reinforced my decision to become a non-smoker forever. Today is day 7 smoke and alcohol free, (since succumbing to a lack of willpower after 60 days smoke free), and I'm finding it easier than I thought it would be. Had lunch yesterday with friends, one of whom quit but is now back to full on smoking, and I wasn't even tempted. If anything the smell was repulsive as it always is. It's a shame he's back on them because he has bad lungs and really isn't a well person. Also, prior to lunch we'd visited another friend who is in a care home due to years of heavy smoking and drinking. She's my age and rarely leaves her bed, permanently on breathing assistance, shakes continually, suffers severe anxiety, and her days are numbered. So, seeing people like this is also a huge wakeup call to me. I'm lucky to be fit and healthy for my age, and I'd like to stay that way. I'd prefer a few extra kilo's and no smokes than being in either of those situations.

Hi Kim, yes very well put. Whether one is 16 or 66 that is the bottom line if smoking is continued. Good luck . Talk again soon.

Um Johnnie, you meant Judes lol.
Hey that's brilliant honey! Must have been
a great feeling not giving in.
Sorry to hear about the health of your
friends though. Not good at all.
