100 Days

It's been a little over a hundred days since I had a cigarette (after six years of smoking around once a day). I didn't plan on stopping, honestly. I had two cigarettes left and I thought, really out of the blue, that once I was done with them I wouldn't smoke any more. That was back in January. It got a little tough after the first week or two, and I came across this community when I was looking for ways not to go back. I feel much better: I don't have headaches, I've got far more energy than before, I generally feel better, and I also sleep much better - and far less than I used to. I though, now that I've hit the hundred day mark, that I should come here and thank you all. I read plenty of stories on icanquit, and it really helped me along. I'm glad I quit smoking and I'm utterly confident that I'll never go back. It just doesn't interest me anymore. Thanks again.

Hi Cookiemonster. Congratulations. Power to you. 100 days. A huge milestone. You have much to look forward to. 200, 300, 400 etc. it gets easier but you can never reward yourself with a cigarette as this will absolutely send you into a downward spiral. How do I know? Where are my fellow quitters of 700+ days ago? Sad if they succumbed and therefore remind you to be one of the 5 to 6% who go a long distance. A 45 year habit is what I kicked all that time ago. I never kid myself that I am truly "cured". Still have the 1/2 carton I never smoked.i just choose to ignore the fact it is there. No need to panic if the "need" ever arose. Power to me!
